How Balanced am I?

Most of us are all too familiar with a Western mindset that emphasizes striving, doing and analyzing over flowing, being and feeling. The questions below were created to reflect this context.

They are by no means exhaustive but provide a taste of what inner balance feels like.

20 Questions to Ponder

Relationship with yourself:​

  1. ​How important is having a spiritual practice that helps you turn inwards, and ultimately grow in consciousness?

  2. Do you have a meditation practice? (whichever style you prefer e.g. walking, sitting, mantra, guided, prayer etc)

  3. How happy are you, generally speaking? (aside from the normal ups and downs of life)

  4. How aware are you of your inner environment (your feelings, needs, subtle impressions) in any moment?

  5. When you are tired, do you allow yourself to rest or do you tend to override it and 'power through'?

  6. Do you tend to favor thinking over feeling when it comes to decision-making?

  7. To what extent is intuition a vibrant and active part of your life?

  8. How do you balance 'doing' and 'just being' daily?

  9. How much 'magic' is in your life? As opposed to the daily grind focused on making ends meet or career success?

  10. How much abundance is in your life, and to what extent is it easily attracted vs depending on great effort?

  11. To what extent are you living your life on purpose? As opposed to "shoulding" on yourself'?

Relationships:

  1. How happy are you in your current relationship?

  2. Is your relationship of 'two halves (each person being one half) trying to make a whole' or of two whole persons?​​

  3. Should we live sustainably with our Planet and its lifeforms or should we dominate and take whatever we want?

Relationship to career and success:

  1. How satisfied are you with your work-life balance?​

  2. How important is creativity to you, and how do you use it in your life? How do you use it in your work?

  3. How much time and energy do you spend chasing worldly success at the expense of your own wellbeing?

  4. How satisfied are you that your work is an expression of your purpose? Do you need to make a change?​

Relationship to leadership:

  1. Which leadership style is more effective - one that drives results or one that builds relationships? Or a combo?

  2. How would you describe your leadership style? Do you get stuck in 'people pleasing' or in 'micromanaging'?
